someone laughing at us
I am begging to wonder if there are any good employers out there! I have worked for 3 big companys now, and everyone has treated people like crap.
my latest one likes the line "if you dont like it the door is there, there is enough people to take your place".
The latest antic that peeved me off is i have had to op on my knee, I have been in physio for 3 years and ended off for 2 weeks. My emloyeer decided 6 months ago not the pay sick pay and stuffed me - i found out today!!! I have been there for 4 years, i hurried back as i didnt want to take the mickey - big fool me heh

Re: someone laughing at us
Slightly off topic but if you've had physio on your knee for 3 years and your still not good then the physio should stop treatment.

Re: someone laughing at us
My employer/supervisor is wicked!
She understand's when we need a day off.... doesn't moan at us when we come in late, as long as there's a reason... and is a all round laugh! Actually enjoy going to work, even though it's only part time and means I have to get up at 5am!

Now there's a valid reason for being late...

Re: someone laughing at us
1) i think you meant good employers (third option) not "gods"
2) my current manager is a complete and utter bitch.... she is constantly looking over our shoulder, constantly criticising, never praises, sucks up to certain members of staff and bitches at the others. Constantly finds new ways to pee us off, like having stupid meetings at the end of the day.....

Re: someone laughing at us
These days your very lucky to find a good employer, especially in a large company.
They usually are only "good" because they are so inneficiant & mismanaged that they miss lost of things that an efficient company picks up on.
Mine for example, they are a useless bunch of...(I'll not finish the statement!).

I work for a small (30 employees) company and have done so for nearly 15 years now. Our boss has a lot of time for all his staff.

Re: someone laughing at us
I've never met my current employer - never even had an interview... I've spoken to him tho. Umm
I've not had any problems with them.
My money turns up in the bank account on time - what else can I say

Re: someone laughing at us
The AA used to be great to work for until Centrica (british gas) bought them.
NTL was fantastic, as I've said before I had the world's best manager and director when I first started.
They helped when they were needed, didn't play politics or empire building, everyone looked up to them, and not just because they'd often take us all out for a pub lunch
They were the sort of people that no matter how bad things were, you'd bend over backwards to help because you know they'd do the same for you.
Too bad a crappy manager who no one liked or respected came in just above me and made the place unpalletable.

Re: someone laughing at us
my current employer is ok, as a company, I am on the group consultative committee & our HR Director is a very caring bloke, for example
- my immediate manager is , too, - 'people orientated' , she tries to get us the tools to do our job
- her boss suffers from being spread too thin, combined with being a power freak, this person even dictates how our desks are arranged in our office, but only comes in twice a week, mainly to see if there is any gossip.
