ntl digital rgb + sound problem

ntl digital got installed today but theres a problem, its a pace box (dont know what version, where does it say?).

anyway, if i use the "tv" output on the back of the digibox to the tv, i get picture but no sound, ive tried a few scart leads so i know its not that, if i connect it to "vcr out" then i get sound but then obviously its not RGB. i have my playstation2 connected to my tv on RGB for watching dvd's so i know theres nothing wrong with my rgb socket.

im determined to get rgb working as the quality is pretty noticeable, is there anyway i could use the picture from the "tv out" and the sound from "vcr out", and then combine this somehow into a scart?

any help would be appreaciated thank you.

to be honest i think its a faulty digi box, but i doubt ntl will change it if i say 2 them the rgb scart doesnt work, they'll just say it works with vcr/rf....

Re: ntl digital rgb + sound problem

Its not as simple as the mute is on the STB is it?

If its not that then report the sound as missing on the TV out, the box should be replaced, if you can't use the TV out scart then you loose widescreen switching on pin 8 as well.

I don't think mute affects the VCR output. It would be too easy for people to record silent programs!

Are you happy renting a box which doesn't work properly? I know I wouldn't pay for it.
Call CS and report the box as faulty. They cannot argue, it is faulty.

Have you checked the volume adjust settings on the AV socket you are using, you could have the volume adjust all the way down effectivly muting the audio. Settings (or audio) green button on the left side of the Panny remote near the fasttext buttons.

Re: ntl digital rgb + sound problem

If you switch the STB into composite mode, does the sound come back?
