or possibly the new presenters ticking all the right boxes but having no charisma and/or knowledge of what makes football fans watch.

Having just read the link (thanks Hugh) I double down on my comment above.
Rooney . . . with no translator

Such a drop is in line with falling television ratings more broadly and Match of the Day has managed to maintain its share of the overall viewing audience in its time slot.

They just put Lineker in the headline to click bait their rabid readership.

Nobody, and I repeat nobody, watches MOTD for who presents it.

I know of quite a few (yes yes anecdotal) who no longer watch it because of the crap presenters - who have zero 'stage presence'.*
* Stage presence is a skill that requires experience and practice to develop. It involves the ability to captivate and engage the audience through a combination of skill, charisma, and presence. A performer with excellent stage presence can create a memorable experience for the audience and leave a lasting impression.
IMO lots of news readers are boring too . . unlike Angela Rippon

Re: Cancel culture at the BBC
Fair enough, I watch it because I want to watch the football highlights.
I don’t understand where the presenters figure. Yes they can be dicks but just forward past them and watch the football.

You won't find Halifax Town on there, in case you were waiting for their appearance.

Ahh, well if you thought you knew me, which you don’t.
You’d know that I am originally from the great state of Liverpool, watched Everton since the late 70’s, to the glory years of the mid eighties and now through a very disappointing 30 years of nothing, And is now also a season ticket holder for the new stadium.
So no, I’m not waiting for their appearance, you are quite correct.
