Yeah, does seem a bit stupid to launch your new service tier with a device that can't actually handle the headline speed and definitely wont be able to do anything with the future speeds.

For 1GB, with it being new and premium, they could have just gone the old standalone modem route for a year and come out with a hub when it's a more widespread service to allow time for 10gb Ethernet to get a bit cheaper.
