Question Slow speed test on main PC

Here is setup

SHUB -> R7000 -> N600 -> Main PC

If I wire laptop on to R7000 I get 100% speed
If I put wired laptop where N600 goes I get 100% speed
If I wire laptop to N600 I get 100% speed
If I put wired laptop where main PC sits I get 100% speed.

So I know that all parts of link to main PC give 100% speed - wires/routers all good.

But on main PC I only get 75% speed using same tests. Same results with Linux (various) and Windows 10 on main PC which is powerful enough, more than the laptop. Main PC is i720, 6GB RAM, 1GB ethernet card.

I used to get full speed on the main PC so something common to both Linux and Windows has hit network speed on main PC. I've not tried a live distro.

I don't recall playing with BIOS but could it be some microcode or something released to mitigate CPU weaknesses that hits the main PC but not laptop?

I can investigate better in Linux as I know it a bit better.
