Even Semi-autonomous i.e. cars that follow lanes on a motorway and monitor distances between vehicles, still need a vigilant occupant.
I can imagine anytime soon the dream of drinking a coffee and reading the paper whilst your car driives you to work.

Flying cars aren't in use yet, I remember being told at school that these were touted as being the norm by the millennium, but it looks like these won't be available until next year at the earliest:
