In my kitchen I have white/cream/grey stripe cabinet doors so have gone for a light grey ceramic floor which goes well with the dining area which has pine furniture.
I guess what I am trying to say is that you would be safer thinking about what colours would go best with whatever colours you can't change in the room(s). Laminates come in a massive range of colours and effects so take some colour swatches with you to a show room. Much better than asking us lot.
