That's a myth. There is not, and nor has there ever been, evidence to support there being space for a single HD channel. Media Boy agrees with this, as does spiderplant.

They are removing SD boxes although that has the primary function of reducing piracy (as affected Sky's SD hardware) through card-sharing.

In the longer term it will allow possibilities removing SD/HD variants, perhaps plus one channels (due to the number of tuners) and MPEG4 compression for some SD channels but that far longer term.
