1) These tend to be individuals acting alone.
2) Where they're acting as a group, they are spread out geographically Eg.

Robin Hollyson, 31, from Bedfordshire, was sentenced to 24 years in prison and a further eight years on licence. He was filmed abusing the baby. Christopher Knight, 35, from Manchester, was jailed for 18 years, with an extension of six years on licence. Matthew Stansfield, 35, from Hampshire was jailed for 14 years. Adam Toms, 33, from Somerset, received a 12-year sentence, and four years on licence
3) The authorities didn't know about them.
4) They tend to be out and out paedophiles.
5) Alcohol, drugs, and threats of violence are not used that often.

Compare that with
1) Always in groups.
2) Usually based in the same town, area, street, workplace.

3) Often the authorities DID have some info of what was going on.
4) It was more a question of what age group was susceptible to there methods. If it had be 30-year old that were susceptible, than that is who would have been abused in that way.
5) Alcohol, drugs, and threats of violence were regularly used.
6) Additionally they were routinely trafficked around the country to many more men not identified and not prosecuted.

Quote:
Vulnerable girls were targeted and given alcohol and drugs before some were raped by multiple men, Sheffield Crown Court heard.
If you were to try and set up such a group, you would struggle to find somebody else to take part or even trust with your secrets. It would appear Muslims don't have such problems. If you can simply ask the person next to you, then it doesn't say much about the company you keep.

A key difference with the Catholic priest situation was that people were (ill advisedly) attempting to protect the "good name" of the church, whereas the Muslim gangs are not senior figures in their faith.
