So in the end we contacted the CEO office, and eventually we did get a business line installed and kept the same number. I think it finally happened mid July, and that was after several more failed visits by techs.

No blame/complaint is made towards the techs, they often came out knowing that the problem wasn't resolved but had to come out as some department had told the CEOs office that it was all fixed - and then they'd waste their time trying to get it work.
One tech in particular went above and beyond to get us a phone line, running several hundred meters of cable from one cabinet to another...

Sadly they can't offer us a residential line - they said there's things they can do because it's a business line, but those options aren't open to them for residential....essentially they said they can't give us a timeframe as to when they might be able to give us a line...

Anyway, I've now booked an appointment to get a BT line installed for the residential, which is a bit of a pain, but there we go
