Of course, Sky already provide a streaming service via Now TV, and I expect that BT will do so as well before long.
And of course in the USA they already have ESPN+ where Disney are trying to retail some content direct to subscribers in addition to the content provided to 80 million or so indirect subscribers.

The future looks far more like my description of more ways to consume the same thing than an upstart revolution changing the way we subscribe to or consume television.
