This was part of the BBC Trust’s stipulation from day one. The BBC were only allowed to take Three off-air on condition that all its long-form programmes were also repeated on broadcast channels. In practice this means Three programmes tend to get shown late on a Thursday or Friday night on BBC1.

It seems they’re now trying to give the material a slightly higher profile. Surely this is somewhat counter to your narrative OB? Three’s output is aimed at 18-35s, the very demographic that supposedly is eminently reachable via streaming platforms. Yet the BBC seems to need to push its content made for that demographic via its primary broadcast channel.
