Netflix did this with Travellers as well. It got cancelled by its network but they ordered a 10-episode 3rd season. They may have some idea how many episodes there needs to be available for streaming before people will take a punt on it. I definitely prefer binge-watching one thing at a time rather than watching odd episodes here and there, as it’s more like reading a book. That makes it frustrating when only one episode is added per week, and it also makes a show look less attractive if you check out its listing and find there aren’t that many episodes.

It’s also possible that they want to make sure the whole thing has a tidy ending, rather than a massive cliffhanger that’ll never get resolved.
