you just need to remember to drill some drain holes in the base of the saucer for when it rains. I used the wee drill bit on the Dremel. As long as it's emptied out every day it should be fine.
You can get bigger saucers than that in Wilkos which is probably a good idea if you get Goldfinches as they are the messiest eaters on Earth!
