According to the surgeon its safer and better recovery, due to my lowish blood sugar. Keeps the brain active and getting more glucose etc... shorter time to wake up too although hours for my legs and feet to get feeling back. Was a cold spray on my back then a needle in to number everything.

So yes it was similar to that due to what they were doing and where it was .. tube in tummy and a cut and stitches below belly button.
