The white box contains an isolator, which protects the VM network from power surges from your equipment, and vice versa. If you wanted to chase it into the wall you’d need quite a big hole, as you need to fit the iso in, and some cable without forcing the cable, it needs to Be within certain bend radius specs. The isolator and connectors would also both need to be easily accessible in case of faults.
