Is that Felix Baumgartner? This was covered in the media very widely at the time. There’s no mystery as to how he survived it, he had a pressure suit made for him, IIRC the same kind worn by cosmonauts flying in Soyuz capsules. The mission ground commander was the man who had held the free-fall altitude record up til that point. Ascent was via a balloon, descent nearly killed him when he went into an uncontrolled spin, which Baumgartner saved himself from thanks to already having a great deal of experience at high altitude free fall.
I believe the stunt produced some useful data that has helped NASA develop improved space capsule emergency escape systems.
