Why?

-Virgin Media runs an Sport channel in Ireland right now called "Virgin Media Sport"
-11 Sports can launch on Sky and Virgin Media if they take BT Sports over.
-Eurosport and Premier Sports - BT Sport took over ESPN UK when BT Sports was set to launch to add more sports rights.
I seriously doubt it, they may be taking a less aggressive stance to bidding under the new management but they still hold the rights to:-

Premier League (with sky as a major partner)
Champions League (exclusive)
Europa League (exclusive)
FA Cup (with BBC as a minor partner)
French Ligue 1 (exclusive)
Bundesliga (exclusive)

Premiership Rugby (exclusive)
Scotland Rugby Internationals (with BBC as an equal partner)
Australian Cricket - home internationals incl next Ashes tour (exclusive)
Australian Big Bash T-20 (exclusive)
Hockey World Cup (exclusive)

Plus a number of minor sports rights

I'm not sure anyone could afford to buy them out of all this given the amount they have spent on the rights.

Unfortunately, I think it is more likely Virgin customers will end up paying for BT Sports.
