Indeed. The only way to break the cycle is for the platforms to tell the content providers (or production companies) that year on year they are going to pay less in real terms in future years than they do now.

That way content goes off platforms and everyone tells the platform they should stump up a “fair” price.

The real problem is that Sky, Virgin and BT aren’t in true competition. They’re offering comparable products at comparable prices in an oligopoly just like the Big 6 energy providers.
