There is no modem in the V6 unlike VM's original Tivo so it uses the customer's separate broadband router via wi-fi. This is why TV-only customers can't have a V6 box, only
broadband and TV customers can.
If I was being really pedantic the broadband uses the cable into you home and the router turns that into wi-fi, so technically the cable is always part of the equation.
