A relative has recently been tempted by one of the January Sky offers and been promised the earth by one of their telesales people, they've started to go ahead with it and apparently received a call from VM a couple of days later to go through the usual retentions discussion.

Unless they're also taking a Sky landline with their existing VM number which would explain a few things, I can't quite fathom how VM would know... but the tale I've heard definitely mentioned an unsolicited outbound call from, I presume, outbound retentions.
