I read a month ago about how JLR had called in consultants and the details of the restructure would be announced in January. The essence seemed to be that the company had expanded too quickly so costs were a bit out of control, had too many similar models and had not replaced its key Defender model.

On top of these internal issues, it was also facing increased costs from Brexit, the public's move away from Diesel and the trade wars which had squashed the Chinese premium car market which had been propping up the company.
