Worst during the short winter days when the ionosphere changes approaching darkness causing medium and low frequency signals to propagate via the sky.

When the ground and sky wave signals converge at the receiver the result is multi path distortion which can be an uncomfortable for the listener. Not to mention echoes from other transmitters on the same frequency and and interference from foreign stations, especially Spanish ones... mala leche!
