What TV do you have? Even with HDR just because a TV supports it doesn't mean it's very good at it!
I've got the Nu8000 from Samsung and it's OK for HDR. Not great but not rubbish. I think you really need a TV that's capable of full local dimming and that can get to 1500 nits or higher to get into great looking HDR.
