I couldn't care less about this particular law as couldn't the vast majority of people. Most people have more important things to worry about. You clearly don't.

V+ had a function for those who wished to backup via SCART, gone in Tivo. Virtually all Freeview Recorders are HDD only, no DVD Writers built-in. And Recorders themselves aren't widely available anyway these days. Much less choice, from much smaller range of manufacturers.
