Re: VM policy on giving info to the police.

I can neither confirm nor deny that I work for an ISP myself, but most requests come from counter terrorism command and is an official demand to provide timings, IPs and from which IP for confirmation (as these can float about from user to user). Obviously they also want to know the account details and addresses, also.

Only ever seen a few UK-based cases, mind. T'is normally stuff from abroad.

Of course, most of this logging data is not especially helpful. Deep packet inspection (live or relayed) is always available, should it be required by the more menacing police services.
