We had a griddle but was such a pain to clean so now use a cast iron pan, oil the steak not the pan and for normal thickness steaks at most 1 min on each side, sear off the edges especially any fat.

I'd prefer to barbie but too much work just for a couple of steaks and getting fire hot enough to do it properly is a pain.
