The impeachment has already occurred in the House. The question now is whether the impeachment results in a conviction. That is more difficult to achieve because impeachment only requires a simple majority in the House of Representatives. Once it gets to the Senate, a two-thirds majority is required for conviction. This is only marginally easier in the incoming Senate, because it's only Democrat-controlled on the casting vote of the Vice President. Otherwise, the new Senate is actually split 50/50. On these figures, 17 Republicans would have to vote for conviction. The NY Times has information suggesting 20 of them are open to the prospect of convicting Trump, so who knows.
