What it equals isn’t relevant? Of course it does. That’s why GDP per capita is often then adjusted to purchasing power parity to note that £1 in the UK isn’t the same as £1 in the Middle East and isn’t the same as £1 in Africa.

Some may argue a business that can’t afford to pay above $7.25 an hour is barely a viable business at all. Capitalism says it deserves to die, not survive on the backs of workers who cannot afford to live.

That said, I’ve zero interest in US politics. If they don’t want to address inequalities they can do as they wish, and live with the poisonous legacy that it generates.
