I see this a
lot with water-ingress (into F-Connectors and/or coax), working with satellite internet systems.
Likely a wet joint or cable damage somewhere. For starters have you checked your driveway for cable damage? - I've stuck a lawn edger through my own before (thanks to Nynex for planting it 1inch deep!)
Like BT, they won't believe you until they see signal issues happening in-person. Modem's don't generally ever die unless
really old and the demod dies.
