They've nearly gone bankrupt buying other companies and laying their own cable, surely they have a right to try to make money out of it and determine the best way to do that. If they can get more people willing to pay £17.99 for 150k then it makes more sense to do that than offer 2mb for only double!
Also I think that there is only one other cable company, Telewest, and when they have finished their financial restructuring it still seems more than likely that they will merge with NTL!
