France's excuse for anything is France's self-interest.

I envy the way they feel able to just give that Gallic shrug before sticking up a middle finger at everyone else and then getting on with doing what suits them.

I wish we would do that a little more instead of being cursed with a Civil Service that enthusiastically implements every Euro-directive to the strictest possible interpretation.

The day we join the Euro is the day I seriously consider emigrating.
