In the UK, a wales is a frequently used measure (especially by newspapers) of the size of a country. For example it might be said that 480 wales could be fitted into Canada. However, please note that this is a measure of quantity, not quality. In terms of quality, and at a very rough guess, I'd say that 1 Canada equals about 0.5 of a wales. Has anyone got a better estimate?
PS For smaller countries, we in the UK often use the Isle of Wight as a measure of size. For extremely small countries, eg Liechtenstein, the Isle of Wight ferry might be a more suitable measurement of area.
