Router / Samsung STB / NTL

I have been asked to configure a router which will connect several computers to a Samsung 2100C set-top box, which is part of an NTL cable broadband installation. I'm reasonably confident that I know what I'm doing, but I don't have much time to experiment.

I have checked that the individual computers work OK - I set them to use DHCP and let the STB generate IP addresses. I am aware that if I change machines, I need to unplug and restart the STB. The proposed router is a Netgear WGR614 used in wired mode.

Is there anything special I should know ? Should I give the computers and router fixed IP addresses ? If not, will the fact that the router generates the IP addresses for everything "behind" it confuse the STB?

I'd be very grateful for some pointers.
