History
Originally Kronenbourg brewed ale, but it is now known for lagers. Kronenbourg is the leading brand of beer in France. It is now owned by the British company Scottish and Newcastle plc.

Its main breweries are located in Obernai and in Champigneulles, although the Champigneulles site is now up for sale.

The main brands are:

Kronenbourg Red 4.2% ABV.
Kronenbourg 1664 5.0% ABV . Considered as a premium beer, it is also the export brand of Kronenbourg breweries. Now also brewed in Manchester and Reading, Berkshire, it is quite a popular beverage and has been described by many drinkers as having a very malty taste.
1664 Brune is a stronger dark version of 1664.
Single Malt (French name Malt d'Exception), 6.1% ABV.
