Yo know so well that the blue internet wire would most likely in your case be a USB cable? And that, as you're able to post your upload isn't copletely gone?

To me it sounds like your modem is capped at 1024/100. You could confirm this by checking the config pages on the modem. |
Ntl modems came with a blue ethernet lead.
