I'd save your .co.uk address for web space and use a no-ip.com address for file access.

I use realvnc and find it secure enough if you change the basic port and have a good password.

Don't forget to forward the port through your router and you can use a different port for each pc ie. myvnc.no-ip.com:5999 for 1 pc and myvnc.no-ip.com:6400 for another.
