Why not try recording from another SCART source, although not a DVD player, as any CGMS-A signal present will inhibit copying and only serve to confuse matters further!

The only other thing that I can try is an xbox 360 connected using a component to SCART adapter. Would this be enough to test with? Whatever the result is it fair to say this looks like a fault with the recorder?
