Point of order, but I don't agree - cheques will clear in whatever timeframe the bank has set up. 4 days is more likely to be the
average clearing time, if you use the example of my account with the Co-op (3 days) compared to Mrs Nugs with Abbey (which, at one point was taking
8!).
EDIT: And yes, I am aware that the average of 8 & 3 is 5.5, it's just an example of the differing timeframes
