Ctfmon is something to do with microsoft office and sometimes can be a trojan but not likely it is a none essential system process but wont use many resources 
You could look in the services list but if your not sure what your doing leave it alone. |

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=282599 which explains how to remove it for Office XP/2003 but i have Office 2007 installed which those steps don't seem to apply.
