Of course there is a simple answer...

Cancel NTL's abysmal TV service and get Sky!

I use NTL for broadband without a gripe (well, apart from the damn proxy issues in Luton) but I would never in a million years use their woeful TV service. Ok so I most likely end up paying a little more by doing it this way but at least I get all the benefits of getting Sky direct from Sky (for example a TV service that works with all the interactive extras). If you're not prepared to pay the little extra to buy your TV service from Sky then you can't really complain becuase you're not getting the value added features that Sky offer 'their' customers.
