Anyway, I've had the £24.99 bb for about 2 years now. I'd like to ring retentions for a new deal. Thing is my threat to cancel would be weakened by the fact that I'm only 9 months into a Phone+TV contract on a seperate Account number.
Basically, if they were smart, they'd realise that I couldn't get another broadband provider to replace my NTL service because I don't have a BT line anymore. And I can't really threaten to ditch the Phone service because I'm under contract for 3 more months.
Obviously this is only if they are smart, I realise people in this thread are reporting new deals whilst still under contract and there is no consistancy at all. I'd like to know whether I can cancel my service without being charged a large lump fee. I like most people here never read the massive document they sent when I first signed up - of course I never even filled it in, so I guess that means I'm not officially contracted to anything...
Any thoughts? I'd like to ring them on Monday.

Being 9 months into the contract for phone and TV akes the timing just right for asking for an offer. You have to get a BT phone line and keep it for 3 months before you can transfer it to Talk Talk which means the contracted year is up at the same time as you can move from BT to Talk Talk.
If you haven't signed any contract with NTL you may probably be able to cancel your NTL services without penalty as they have failed to fulfill one of the requirements of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 which governs the Hire Agreement that NTL contracts are based on. Some posters are suggesting that simply using the services implies that you have accepted the contract but this is not the case if you read the relevant Act. There should be a thread on the subject somewhere in the sites archives which goes into the details.
