I also have phone and DTV. I would have no real need of TU24 to be honest, but I wouldn't consider cancelling any of my three services, so I won't lie by ringing them and saying I would.
Stupid? Maybe! But unlike many I understand the 'rules' of business. In the long term you get what you pay for. One of the reasons I'd not even consider the Talk Talk deal is that I prefer my supplier to be making some sort of profit out of my business. Long term, you don't get something for nothing.
I'm not advocating paying more than you need to, just saying that nothing in life is truly free.

Ah just had to answer this..
Firstly people aren't always threatening to disconnect they're happily throwing these discounts at people.
Second you may understand the 'rules' of business but ntl still don't - they discount without any further contract tie-in, and constantly pay the price for it from people who persistently obtain discounts. What do mobile companies do when you phone to leave? I believe they offer you deals subject to renewing your contract with them, yes?
The margins on ntl's products do suggest that some of these deals would be loss making, however whose problem is that besides ntl's?
If ntl are in a position where they have to discount to retain customers that's no-one's problem besides theirs. If they had the quality of service, the value adds, and the customer service to keep more people happy without having to pimp, beg and discount to hell in an attempt to keep them.
Personally I think they should be offering lower prices anyway if they can afford to offer these discounts to whoever calls up asking about their deals.
You seem to forget that you're a customer, and are set upon acting like a stakeholder in the business. That's really your problem. Personally I'd have no problem seeing them go back through C11 bankruptcy and at the end be bought out by UPC, which is likely with or without the bankruptcy.
