Upgraded leading to Net loss
NTL did some maintenance of their service, so my set top box which has a built in modem started flashing. I have a usb connection.
This has happened in this past. TV is fine, but this time my net connection has totally died no matter how many times I unplug everything. Although my PC is still recieving a signal according to my network connection, the net and msn/yahoo messenger etc will not run.
So basically I cannot access websites, but the modem IS sending a signal to my pc, all beit with a virtually nonexistant signal.
NTL claim its my PC's fault and not theirs, but no settings were altered on my PC so surely its their signal which has all but vanished. System restore did nothing to help.
I believe I have a very weak signal, how do I prove/test this. the modem is very old, the original set top box cable modem. So cannot even achieve 1MB we are paying for, think it can handle about 300-500k.

I went to check the network settings, and it says the speed is 10 Mbps,
Is that saying I have a 10Mb connection? If so that cant be as the set top modem is not even meant to be able to handle 1Mb and we are only paying for 1Mb not 10.
If it really is running fine, why doesnt anything connect? The guy mentioned protocals needing to be changed, but didnt say HOW just said do a system restore, which was f**king useless, he had no ideas after that and hung up.
1,200 packets sent, 109 recieved in 10 minutes by the way.
