In your setup, I'd be looking at the router.
Try turning off your modem, connecting it straight to the PC then powering it back up. When it's 'ready' power up the PC and try running your progs.

thanks for your advice but i am sure it is not the router, it happened today again i got bored of waiting so i went down to reset me router and modem i noticed that the rdy light on the modem was off so i think it is the modem!
i am about to ring them up to get a new modem :P ^^^
