nah as far as i was aware NTL uses layer 4 switching whereby the read into the packets coming in and redirect it accordingly hence you can not bypass this as far as i was aware or that NTL had specified..
Ohhh once they gave me an IP to one of their own proxy servers ...

lol @ yourself. When they work, NTL's proxies are fine. When they don't, you don't have to look far for a
list of all of their proxies. Pick one and away you go. Many of us on this site have been doing this for years.
You're right, it's not brilliant, they should fix it ... but what is surprising me, and some other people in this thread, is how little you appear to have done to help yourself during the three years you were an NTL customer.
