He wants a 'Wireless Cable Router'. This plugs into the ethernet port on his Cable Modem.

I, and several others here, use the Linksys WRT54G router, usually about ÃƒÆ’Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£55 (or less on ebay!).
