Unhappy Re: Telewest STB to DVD recorder set up- Help!

Hi Guys
I'm not new to all things electronic but I am new to these forums. I'm sure one of you techies out there will be able to give me an answer.
I had an upgrade to Telewest broadband a month or so back, I was up to that point receiving my B/B via the STB (pace 4000) The Telewest engineer told me that my STB needed changing and fitted a Scientific Atlanta 4200DVB. At that point I foolishly forgot to check my DVD recorder and VCR functionality, When switching on the DVD recorder (Phillips R70) It did not detect a signal from the STB. I suspected he had'nt reconnected everything correctly but when I checked it was all fine.
So in summary I have
Thompson 28'' TV with 2 x Scart
Scientific Atlanta 4200DVB 2 x Scart
Phillips R70 DVD Recorder 2 x Scart
Akura DVD player 1 x Scart
Technika AV Sender (so we can watch TV in kitchen - uses 1 Scart)
CCTV camera (back garden monitoring - connected to AV2 on VCR )
Now everything worked fine untill the STB was changed. I've kinda added bits on over the years and its was all fine....... I have a problem now in that whatever order I plug things in as soon as I hit the AV2 button on the DVD recorder to record cable the picture turns a horrible shade of green. I have even brought one of those smart scart switches but that hasnt made any difference either. I also noticed when shifting things around a spare RF ariel cable lying on the floor. I think part of my problem is that the pace STB had an RF throughput and the telewest engineer simply unplugged it and left it laying there because the the Scientific Atlanta box only has an RF output which transmits a fixed signal at round about channel 54. I asked telewest if they could give me a pace box and all they said was that if my Scientific Atlantic STB was faulty they would replace it, but not neccessarily with a Pace! They also pointed out that what I was doing with the AV sender was illegal and that if I wanted to watch ''their services'' in another room that I needed to rent another box off of them ! Ha, Bring on Sky !!
If anyone has any suggestions how to resolve this particular dilemma I'd be more than chuffed to listen. Thanks guys and a great forum !
