I've heard good things about the DG834PN MIMO, but if somebody has used this Router before could you please answer these few questions about it?
1) On my current router, enabling "DMZ" removes all restrictions from Downloading and Uploading, is this true for this router? And if not what else will I need to do with the configuration?
I havent read the specs or seen one but most routers allow this, all though it is a bad thing to do so if you really NEED your PC in the DMZ make sure you have a decent Firewall and A/V
2) I know this router can be used wired with Ethernet cables, as well as wireless, but if I just use it wired will my neighbors still be able to gain access to my internet Wirelessly? If so.. how can I assure they can't?
Use the WPA Security built into most decent routers
3) My current set-up includes the following :
Standard Broadband Router by Mentor, One Ethernet wire direct connecting Computer 1, and One Ethernet Wire connected to a Switch which connects Computer 2 and Xbox to the network and internet..
With this Router will I just be able to plug the two Ethernet cables in and keep my current setup? Without any speed reduction? ( The Switch/Hub is Mentor also and is 10/100 mbit.)
Yep, just remove your old router from the setup and plug in the new one. should be as easy as pi
I think I've been as detailed as possible, if you need anything else please say so. Windows XP Home, 3ghz.
