Do you switch things off?

If you turn off a router overnight, and it grants DHCP leases for longer, then a Windows PC remembers the lease even when turned off, so the next startup, it owns the address, and the router also starts from that address.

If you turn off the DHCP provider (router), then it must be set to grant leases that are no longer than the time it will be turned off for - normally half a day works ok with one that is turned off overnight, as windows will normally consider a lease stale at half lifetime.
